September 16, 2008 In the wake of its partnership announcements at today’s Key to Success Gala, St. Peter's College launched the public portion of its five-year, $4.5 million national fundraising campaign, called “Key to Success.” “St. Peter’s College is a recognized post-secondary institution where its alumni are making a difference in communities throughout the world,” said Rob Harasymchuk, President of St. Peter's College, “The challenge, and opportunity, right now is to stay on the forefront while maintaining our traditions of service and quality to the rural people of Saskatchewan.” To help Saskatchewan and Canada meet the increasing demand for a well-educated and leading workforce, St. Peter’s College declared a few years ago that its key focus is to increase the accessibility of university training through growing our programs and enhancing our facilities. Lisa Laskowski , St. Peter’s College Director of Develoment said, “Tonight, we are launching a multi-million dollar plan. We will be raising funds to ensure programs and services provided by St. Peter's College are supported with the facilities and technologies required for successful delivery.” The Campaign is soliciting funds from alumni, friends, business and corporations, as well as charitable organizations across Canada and beyond. About $2.5 million has already been committed. “Many leadership donations have been made,” said Laskowski, adding the College’s most significant donation so far is from class of 1950 alumnus Paul J. Hoenmans, retired director and president of Exxon Mobil who attended Tuesday’s gala. “We are incredibly grateful to Mr. Hoenmans for donating $1 million to establish the Paul J. Hoenmans Bursary and to renew the college building where he once studied. His belief in our business plan and his generous contribution will make an outstanding difference to St. Peter’s College students and the communities we serve,” said Laskowski. In recognition of Hoenmans’ donation, the College is naming part of the renovated college building the “Paul J. Hoenmans Community Resource Centre.” The Centre will include the college’s library, Conexus Community Art Gallery, computer labs, with resource and conference rooms. Hank B. Swartout, retired Chairman of the Board and CEO, Precision Drilling Inc., who attended St. Peter’s College from 1966 to1970 also committed $1 million. Funds raised by the campaign will be directed to support the $15 million plan that has been presented to St. Peter's College stakeholders. Critical areas of need include:
Since 2006, the Board of Governors, administration, faculty, staff, students alumni, businesses and community organizations have been working on the college’s business plan. Donations from Canada and the United States are tax creditable. For information contact: Lisa Laskowski Val Koroluk |
