Statement of Purpose
The Library at St. Peter's College exists to serve a wide variety of constituents and to support their intellectual, academic, and spiritual growth.
Specifically, the Library exists to acquire, preserve and make accessible the resources necessary
- For students and faculty in pursuit of their academic goals as reflected in the College calendar and through non-credit offerings
- To fulfill the needs of guests, researchers, and scholars working with the collection
- For formation and development of the monastic community
- For the needs of the varied apostolates of St. Peter's Abbey
- For the continued development of a lively intellectual and spiritual life for the whole community.
Serving Our Patrons
In order to fulfill the Statement of Purpose, the Library at St. Peter's College will
- Promote and develop the information literacy skills of Library users in both text and electronic forms
- Foster critical and innovative thinking, information processing, problem solving, communication, and development and integration of knowledge
- Provide instruction in information research skill development to all Library users
- Work with faculty to develop Library literacy as an integral part of course curriculum
- Development of the collection to support identified intellectual and spiritual needs
- Promote lifelong and independent learning
