SPC community enjoys mediaeval feast

February 11, 2010 was the night of the annual mediaeval feast at St. Peter's.  The feast, held a little early this year, celebrates the start of Lent.  This is a traditional time of feasting to use up the food that is not allowed to be eaten during Lent.

Around 70 people attended this year's event.  Entertainment was provided by two groups of troubadours (the Saskatchewan writers guilds retreat members and the SPC drama class) and a minstrel (Br. Kurt).  The King and Queen (SPC students, Ryan Heise and Jenna Mollenbeck) knighted 2 worthy citizens and spoke graciously to all who attended the feast.  The evening ended with a game of pass the parcel.

The menu was medieval with squash, parsnip, peas, sausages and pasta.  No forks were provided so food was eaten with a spoon or fingers!  One of the best parts of the meal is the trencher or bread plate.  In the past these were made from stale bread, however, the SPC version is fresh so the edible plate adds to the delicious meal.

We are already looking forward to next year's feast!
