2010 Opportunties Edge Another Success
Opportunities Edge, east central Saskatchewan's largest education, career and trades fair continues to grow.
This year, well over 700 people attended the event held at St. Peter's College (SPC) in Muenster on September 30th. "This is an increase in students and exhibitors from last year," said Val Koroluk, SPC Special Projects Manager and one of the event's organizers.
"We are able to attract more exhibitors and presenters because of the tremendous attendance from schools in the region," said Koroluk. "Teachers and guidance counselors have been very supportive in co-ordinating their students to attend because of the wide variety of exhibitors and presenters from post-secondary institutions, business, industry and trades."
Over 45 organizations were represented at this year's event. Some of the exhibitors included the University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina, SIAST, Big Sky, Canadian Forces and St. Peter's College. This year, for the first time, the event included hands on demonstrations by Michel Industries, Ed Drachberg - Machinist and Parkland Regional College Firefighting Program.
Students from the following schools attended included Annaheim, Bruno, Englefeld, Humboldt, CTRC Humboldt, Lake Lenore, Lanigan, LeRoy, Middle Lake, Muenster, Naicam, Porcupine Plain, Quill Lake, Rose Valley, St. Brieux, St. Louis, Viscount, CTRC Wadena and CTRC Wakaw.
St. Peter's College and Canada Saskatchewan Career and Employment Services partnered to host the event.
