Announcing Dr. Khawaja Faran Ali
St. Peter's College congratulates Dr. Khawaja Faran Ali on successfully defending his PhD dissertation. Dr. Ali is currently our Geography professor and has taught at St. Peter's College for 3 years. SPC is proud of his hardwork and dedication.
The following is a brief summary of his thesis:
Thesis title: Construction of Sediment Budgets in Large Scale Drainage Basins: The Case of the Upper Indus River
This study is useful to ensure the basic requirements of water for drinking, irrigation and hydropower for the fast growing population in remote areas of Himalayan mountains. The results of this study can be utilized when remedial measures as well as new development projects are started for sustainable development in these areas. Further application include improving forecasting of food availability and living conditions of poor and marginalized groups living mainly in these upland high mountain areas of the Indian Subcontinent, in relation to water resources management strategies.
