Students Begin University Year at St. Peter’s College
The academic year for students, staff and faculty at St. Peter's College began this week. Approximately 150 students, parents, staff and faculty attended the Student Orientation held at the Muenster campus Tuesday morning.
Orientation Day was organized to assist students with the transition to university. The day also provided students and parents an opportunity to attend an information session on academics and college life, tour the College, purchase textbooks and meet staff and faculty and fellow students.
College Vice-President, Rob Harasymchuk welcomed everyone. "On behalf of the Board and President Glen Kobussen, we wish you the best for a successful year." Harasymchuk added, "We have an exceptional staff and faculty who will do their best to help you."
The students had an opportunity to learn about academic responsibilities and student life from a presentation by Rebecca Cross, Special Projects Manager and Dr. Barbara Langhorst of the Academic Centre for Excellence at St. Peter's. "Our staff and faculty are here to help you succeed," said Cross.
"Enrolment has increased again this year", said Val Koroluk, Special Projects Manager. "The College has a lot to offer. We are attracting students from beyond the local area." Koroluk added, "The increase in students is largely due to our excellent core programming, student supports, numerous opportunities and exciting student life."
Students attend St. Peter's College to begin their university degree in Arts and Science, Agriculture, Kinesiology and Business or to fulfill the entry requirements to the professional colleges such as Education, Law, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Medicine.
"Students and parents see St. Peter's as a positive choice for a number of factors," said Val Koroluk, Special Projects Manager. "We offer them an excellent choice of programs, exceptional instruction, lower tuition and cost of living and smaller class size," said Koroluk, "This, combined with the exciting student life and friendly supportive environment makes the transition from high school to university easier."
