Brother Kurt Van Kuren, Order of St. Benedict Muenster was born in Windsor Ontario March 25, 1951. He began a career as a guitarist at nineteen and subsequently played locally and later in Western Canada, before he finished his guitar career in 1977 in Los Angeles. He then pursued a religious vocation, while completing diplomas in electronics, drafting and design.

Br. Kurt entered St. Peter’s Abbey in 1983 and then went on for academic studies first at St. John’s College Abbeyville Minnesota where he earned a Bachelor’s in Philosophy 1988 (Summa Cum Laude), and then studied at the California Institute of Integral Studies, earning a degree in East/West Psychology 1992 (Magna Cum Laude).

He began to teach Introductory Psychology at St. Peter’s College in September 1990, and except for a sabbatical in 1998 when he recorded the CD ‘Sacred Electric’ has taught at the College ever since.

Brother Kurt’s present interests are in 3d modeling and 3d printing. He hopes to inaugurate a program in Digital Culture at St. Peter’s College sometime in 2021.Â
