Classes

After finishing her Ph.D. Malin found her passion for teaching and learning. She embarked on a post-doctoral research project in science education at UBC, where she studied how students learn and think about biology at various stages of their degree. Since then Malin has been teaching biology at universities and colleges in Saskatchewan, BC and Alberta. Malin is passionate about helping students learn biology. Regardless of the size of the class or student background, she uses an inclusive and learner-centered teaching approach. She emphasizes the importance of deep learning and higher-level thinking over memorization and designs interactive in-class activities, case studies and assignments that allow students to practice applying concepts and that foster student collaboration and critical thinking.
